A North Korean woman named Li Sunbok carries her 6-year-old daughter Misuk on her back attempt to escape across the Tumen River. They manage to cross the border, but found by evading Chinese border police, the two end up separated.Sunbok is captured by a Chinese broker, while her daughter meets a North Korean begger Minghao and follows him in the streets.
Yanbian police officer Kim Kyungmin is a good cop who has received orders to crack down on North Korean defectors. While doing so, his father tell him that Kyungmin’s uncle from North Korea, whom he has not seen for decades, has also crossed the border and is now in the area. However, these refugees, who have suffered a lot of hardship, are merely ordinary people.I witness these tearful stories.Thus,I would like to present their dreadful experiece in a realistic way through making this film,touching their bruises deep in their hearts.
